Legislative Work / Erin’s Law

MIA is working with legislators and lobbyists in Guatemala’s Congress to create a Guatemalan version of Erin’s Law.  Repeatedly abused as a child, Erin Merryn has written books and inspired a movement where eight US states have passed legislation requiring public schools to teach children about “good touch vs. bad touch” and what are acceptable and unacceptable secrets to keep.

Her work in the US has inspired us to work to attain a similar law in Guatemala.  We are working with Congresswoman Nineth Montenegro and the former Minister of Education, Bienvenido Argueta, PhD, who are drafting up modifications to the education bill to include similar curricula.
